In "Beyond Translation; The Marketer's Field Guide to Understanding Today's Transcultural Consumer", Valerie distills almost 20 years of consumer research and field work with brands such as 3Com, Absolut, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, metroPCS, Phillips Petroleum and Samsung.
She is a passionate speaker at industry events, sharing her insights (and sometimes concerns) of her experiences in the field; delving deep into respondent’s closets or refrigerators, observing the cultural rituals of preparing dinner or doing laundry, riding in hair-raising Andretti style drive-a-longs or doing stealth observations in the bazaars, mercados, bodegas and other cultural watering holes around the globe.
With a voracious passion to gain a deeper understanding of people around the world, Valerie is currently developing “A Day in the Life.” From Mumbai to Mexico City, Shanghai to São Paolo, this ethnographic documentary series features the personal stories, rituals and intimate moments of the every day lives of today's emerging market consumers.
Born in Paris, France, Valerie has crossed the transcultural divide time and again, having lived in London, Madrid, Manhattan, South Beach, and Malibu. A self-proclaimed aging hipster, she now resides amongst them sans tattoo, in San Francisco’s Mission District.
A loathe of flying in coach, leads Valerie to spend her spare time gambling upgrade to load flight ratio odds, memorizing airline seat maps and devising new strategies to attain lifetime million-miler status before her preferred airline goes out of business.
